The Arizona Diamondbacks blew a 4-0 lead in the final three innings of the game as they lost to the San Diego Padres 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon. Terrible way to lose a ball game and now they are hoping for a Dodgers loss this evening.

Starting pitcher Randy Johnson allowed three runs over seven innings to get a no decision in the game. The Big Unit allowed five hits including one home run and struck out nine Padres while only walking one. Chad Qualls took the loss as he pitched the eighth inning and allowed three hits and two runs to score. Chase Headley and Jody Gerut both hit rbi singles off of Qualls in the 8th inning.

Mark Reynolds, Miguel Montero, Chris Young, and Randy Johnson all had rbi’s for the Diamondbacks. All four of the runs came in the sixth inning as Reynolds had a sac fly, Montero a triple, Young a double, and Johnson a single. The bullpen just couldn’t hold onto the lead.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Diamondbacks are up 2.5 games on the Dodgers. The Dodgers can drop that down to two games if they beat the Nationals on Wednesday night. This weekend is going to be a huge series with the D-backs and Dodgers face each other.

Blah, what a bad ending for the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night as Jon Rauch gave up a two run home run to Jody Gerut and the San Diego Padres defeated the D-backs 4-2. The loss was very bad becase the Dodgers lost and the the Diamondbacks could have extended their lead in the division to four games. Instead they are ahead by three games.

Rauch took the loss after serving up the homerun in the bottom of he ninth inning. Starting pitcher Dan Haren gave up nine hits and two runs in seven innings of action. Haren pitched well enough to win however there just wasn’t any run support for him. Haren struckout 11 batters while only walking one. Tony Pena pitched the eighth inning without allowing a run to score.

Both of the Diamondback’s runs came in the fourth inning when Chris Snyder singled. Conor Jackson and Mark Reynolds both scored on the single by Snyder. The D-backs and Padres will play again on Tuesday evening and the Diamondbacks will send Brandon Webb to the mound.

Adam Dunn went deep once again to help the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres 8-6. The Diamondbacks have now one the first two games in the three game series and they will be going for the sweep on Thursday night.

Dunn got the D-backs on the scoreboard in the first inning when he clubbed a three run home run to get the team back in the game as they were already down 4-0 after the top of the first inning. Chris Snyder then added a solo home run and Conor Jackson a rbi single in the second inning to put the D-backs on top by a 6-4 score. Mark Reynolds finally got the team on the scoreboard again in the seventh inning when he scored two runs with a double.

On the mound it was Dan Haren who got the win even though he had the terrible first inning where he gave up four runs. Haren gave up 11 hits and five runs but it was good enough to get his 14th win of the season. Chad Quails, Tony Pena, and Jon Rauch all pitched in relief of Haren. Rauch gave up one run but Quails and Pena both pitched scoreless innings.
