Jon Garland told the Arizona Diamondbacks no once, but he couldn’t do it again. Garland and the D-backs have agreed on a one-year contract with possibly a mutual option for a second year. Garland is expected to make between $6-$8 million next season.
Things worked out well for the Diamondbacks considering that Garland turned down a higher offer from the Los Angeles Angles back in December. This year’s free agent market has really dropped and pitchers are looking to sign quicly before prices drop any farther.
The deal is pending Garland passes a physical. Garland was also a type b free agent so he will not cost the Diamondbacks a draft pick.
