Dan Haren and Josh Beckett were locked in a great pitchers duel on Monday night and the Arizona Diamondbacks came away with a 2-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox.  The two teams battled back and forth until the Diamondbacks were finally able to score both of their runs in the seventh inning.  The Red Sox didn’t score until the eighth inning, and they fell one run short in the end.

Haren pitched the first seven innings of the game and only allowed two hits while striking out five batters.  It was a great outing for Haren as he improved his record to 8-4 with a 3.04 era.  Tony Pena pitched the eighth inning and gave up a sac fly to J.D. Drew and then Brandon Lyon pitched the ninth inning to pick up his 16th save.

Chris Young had a rbi double and Chris Snyder had a rbi ground out in the seventh inning to provide both of the Diamondbacks runs.  The D-backs were lucky to get two runs off of Beckett as he was really dealing on the mound.

The D-backs will try to go up 2-0 in the series against the Red Sox on Tuesday evening.  Make sure to tune in and watch another great Diamondbacks game!
