With Lou Piniella's career as Cubs manager over, franchise hero Ryne Sandberg thinks he's ready to step into Piniella's shoes. In a spring training interview with Sporting News magazine, Sandberg—in his fourth season as a manager in the Cubs organization—said his desire to win a World Series in Chicago is "why I’m still wearing a Cubs uniform." In a recent telephone interview, the 50-year-old Hall of Fame second baseman took those comments a step further.
