The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-2 on Thursday afternoon and with the win took two out of three games in Denver. It was a big win for the D-backs who are battling back and forth with the Los Angels Dodgers for the top spot in the West Division. With only sox or so weeks left in the season, every game is very big!

The D-backs blew the game open in the fifth inning when they scored five runs. Chris Snyder and Chris Burke both home home runs in the inning. Adam Dunn added a two run single to conclude the five run inning. Chris Young added a rbi double in the seventh inning to add a little bit of insurance as well.

Dan Haren picked up the victory as he tossed eight inings to impove to 13-6 on the season. Haren did a great job as he allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out nine Rockies and only walking two. Jon Rauch finished things up in the ninth inning as he shut the door on the Rockies.

Now the D-backs will travel to Houston to take on the Astros in a three game series.

The Arizona Diamondbacks were pretty much man handled on Wednesday afternoon by the Milwaukee Brewers.  The Brewers beat up on the Diamondbacks by the score of 10-1 as they swept the Diamondbacks in a three game series.  The Diamondbacks are now 2-7 in theie last nine games and are 32-28 in the season.

Micah Owings only lasted three innings and took the loss for the D-backs.  Owings gave up eight hits and five runs as his record dropped to 6-4.  Edgar Gonzalez did a terrible job on the mound as he came in for Owings.  Gonzlez gave up six hits, five runs, and two home runs in only three innings of action.

Finally Doug Slaten and Brandon Lyon were able to calm things down as they pitched the eighth and ninth innings without giving up a run.  It was a little too late however, as there was no way the offense was going to get out of that big hole.

Once again the Diamondbacks hitters struggled at the plate as they only scored one run.  Mark Reynolds singled in Chris Burke in the third inning for the only rbi in the game for the Diamondbacks.

Arizona will now get a off day on Thursday and then play the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend.  This weekend I really see the Diamondbacks getting back on track and atleast winning three out of four games against the Pirates.

The Arizona Diamondbacks score three runs in each of the first two innings against Jeff Francis and the Colorado Rockies and then they went onto beat the Rockies 8-4.  The Diamondbacks put a lot of pressure on Francis in the game and they scored all eight runs off of him in only 4 2/3 innings.

I love to see the offense come out and score runs like that early in the ball game.  The three runs in the first inning all came on singles that scored one run each.  Orlando Hudson, Conor Jackson, and Mark Reynolds all had rbi singles in the first inning.

In the second inning, it was Stephen Drew connecting on a three run home run to score all three runs for the Diamondbacks.  It was Drew’s fifth home run of the season.  The Diamondbacks then scored one run in the fourth and and fifth innings as they extended their lead.  Hudson had another rbi single in the fourth inning while Chris Burke had a rbi single in the fifth inning when he was pitch hitting for Randy Johnson.

Speaking of Johnson, he picked up his third win of the season as he improved to 3-1.  Johnson tossed five innings of baseball as he gave up nine hits and four runs.  He did give up one home run but it was a solo home run so it didn’t hurt too bad.

Juan Cruz, Chad Qualls, Tony Pena, and, Brandon Lyon all got a inning of action in the game.  All four pitchers did a great job and held the Rockies to zero runs.

The Arizona Diamondbacks finished off the Philadelphia Phillies 8-3 on Thursday afternoon as they beat the Phillies two out of three games in their three game series.

Brandon Webb improved to 8-0 on the season as he tossed a complete game.  Webb allowed six hits and three runs in the game.  He was cruising along until the ninth inning when he gave up two runs to the Phillies.  Webb still has a 2.41 era after giving up the three runs though.

Chris Young and Justin Upton both hit home runs for the Diamondbacks.

Chris Snyder had two rbi in the game as did young.  Augie Ojeda, Mark Reynolds, Chris Burke, and Upton all had one rbi each in the game.

The Diamondbacks will now travel to Chicago to take on the slumping Chicago Cubs in a three game series starting on Friday.  Diamondbacks Blog

The Arizona Diamondbacks lost 9-4 on Sunday against the San Diego Padres putting the Diamondbacks at 13-5 for the year.  Arizona is off to a good start leading the National League West but the Rockies are close on their tale and if they want to hold that spot, they can’t be getting beat by the Padres.

Randy Johnson opened up the night for the Diamondbacks pitching for five and two-thirds innings giving up six hits and six runs putting him at 0-1 on the season after taking the loss.  Brandon Medders, Doug Slaten, and Tony Pena were all brought in to try and seize the win but were unsuccessful.  Slaten and Pena both gave up runs in their action.

Chris Burke, Mark Reynolds, Robby Hammock, and Augie Ojeda all picked up and RBI for the night.

The Diamondbacks will welcome the Giants to Arizona for a two game series on Monday night.  Who do you think will come out on top of this one?  I think the Diamondbacks will win both games of the series.
