It is being reported that the Arizona Diamondbacks and outfielder Trot Nixon have agreed on a minor league contract. Nixon will give the Diamondbacks another option in the outfield and another left handed batter.
The Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Toronto Blue Jays were also interested in aquiring Nixon.
Juan Cruz and the Arizona Diamondbacks agreed on a one year contract worth just below $2 million. Cruz had a really good year for the Diamondbacks last year going 6-1 with a 3.10 ERA. Cruz just has nasty stuff out of the bullpen and really had all his pitches working for him last season.
I’d expect another great year out of Cruz. He is hitting that point in his career where he is really learning each batter, and knows what he needs to do to get each guy out. Cruz is making great progress, and in another free agent year, I expect great things from him.
