The Arizona Diamondbacks were not able to take advantage of Dodgers loss on Monday night as they also lost. The D-backs were blown out on the road against the San Francisco Giants by the score of 6-2. It was a long night the pitching staff as well as the hitters.

First off, Yusmeiro Petit gave up eight hits and five runs in only 2 2/3 innings as he put the team in a big hole. Petit of course received the loss and dropped his record to 3-5 on the season. The bullpen didn’t throw the ball to badly until Jailen Peguero came in and allowed one run in the seventh inning.

For the D-backs offense, or lack there of, they didn’t score until the top of the ninth inning. Tim Lincecum dominated them for 8 innings before they were finally able to get a couple of runs when Jamie D’Antona grounded into a fielders choice and Adam Dunn scored. The D-backs got a free run on the play as well when Giants pitcher Alex Hinshaw made made an error that allowed Conor Jackson. So yeah, the Diamondbacks could have easily been shut out in this game.

They remain 1.5 games behind the Dodgers in the standings now. Tuesday night’s game is a big one!

There will be nine players away from the Diamondbacks big league camp as they were all reassigned with the minor league camp so they get more opportunities at playing time against the minor league competition.

Brooks BrownHector AmbrizBarry Enright, Matt GreenWes RoemerMark RosenJamie D’AntonaFrank Curreri, and Chris Rahl were all sent down.  None of these players were really expected to make the big league club out of spring training so nothing is really suprising here.
