The Arizona Diamondbacks got a 4-2 win at home against the San Francisco Giants on Monday putting the Diamondbacks at 14-5 for the year.  Arizona is off to a great start and is looking like they might be the National League team to beat this season as they are off to a hot start.

The Diamondbacks hit three home runs in the game that accounted for all four of their runs.  Mark Reynolds got the scoring started in the second inning when he hit a solo home run.  Eric Byrnes hit a two run homer in the fifth inning that made the score 3-2.  Orlando Hudson added an insurance run in the seventh inning with a solo home run to make the score 4-2.

The opening pitcher for the Diamondbacks was Micah Owings who threw for 6.1 innings giving up five hits, two runs, and one walk.  He came away with the win putting him at 4-0 for the year.  Chad Qualls, Tony Pena, and Brandon Lyon were brought in to finish off the last 2.2 innings with Brandon Lyon getting his 4th save of the season.

The Diamondbacks will face off against the Giants again tonight for the last game of  the series.

The Arizona Diamondbacks lost 9-4 on Sunday against the San Diego Padres putting the Diamondbacks at 13-5 for the year.  Arizona is off to a good start leading the National League West but the Rockies are close on their tale and if they want to hold that spot, they can’t be getting beat by the Padres.

Randy Johnson opened up the night for the Diamondbacks pitching for five and two-thirds innings giving up six hits and six runs putting him at 0-1 on the season after taking the loss.  Brandon Medders, Doug Slaten, and Tony Pena were all brought in to try and seize the win but were unsuccessful.  Slaten and Pena both gave up runs in their action.

Chris Burke, Mark Reynolds, Robby Hammock, and Augie Ojeda all picked up and RBI for the night.

The Diamondbacks will welcome the Giants to Arizona for a two game series on Monday night.  Who do you think will come out on top of this one?  I think the Diamondbacks will win both games of the series.

Doug Davis who was making his last start before under going thyroid surgery, helped the Arizona Diamondbacks defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-5.  Davis pitched six innings, giving up six hits, and two earned runs.  He received a standing ovation as well as a curtain call after he left the game.

The Diamondbacks were led at the plate by Conor Jackson and Mark Reynolds who both batted in three RBI.  Orlando Hudson, Justin Upton, Doug Davis, and Alex Romero all chipped in with one RBI each as well.

It was awesome to see Davis pick up the win as he gets ready to go in for thyroid surgery.  He will be gone for about a month if everything goes as planned.  We wish him and his family the best.
