Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of updating as of late. Was busy over the holidays and up until recently there wasn’t a whole lot of talk about the Diamondbacks to blog about. I’m sure you have already heard about this news but I figured I’d throw it up on the site anyways.

The D-backs have signed catcher Chris Snyder’s contract as they have gave him a three year exention which should keep him in a Diamondbacks uniform through 2012. Snyder will earn a guranteed $14.25 million but could earn upwards of $20.25 if the option for 2012 is picked up.

The team also announced that they would be bringing veteran Tony Clark back. Clark was signed for one year and will be paid $800,000. I like this move as Clark is a good veteran to have in the clubhouse and can continue helping the young guys out.

The other big news was that Jeff Moorad resigned as CEO of the team as he is part of a group that is trying to purchase the San Diego Padres. To take Moorad’s spot the Diamondbacks announced that Derrick Hall.

We will be more active on the site now that spring training get closer. We are also going to open up the blog to a couple of Diamondbacks fans out there who would like to blog through out the season. If this sounds interesting to you and you would like more info, please use the contact us link at the top of the site and send us an email.

What a game for Doug Davis and the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night! Davis threw 7 2/3 innings while only allowing two hits and two walks and the Diamondbacks shutout the Padres to even up the three game series.

With the win Davis is now 4-5 on the season. Jon Rauch recorded the final out of the eighth inning after Davis left the game and then Brandon Lyon came in to pitch the ninth inning and record his 22nd save of the season. Lyon did not allow a hit while striking out two batters in the inning.

All three of the Diamondbacks runs came in the sixth inning. Mark Reynolds reached on an error my Kevin Kouzmanoff that allowed Conor Jackson to score. Alex Romero then singled to score Tony Clark and Reynolds. There wasn’t much offense but it was enough to get the job done the way the pitchers threw the ball.

The Arizona Diamondbacks were attempting to sweep the Chicago Cubs in a three game series but they fell just short as they lost 10-6 on Wednesday night. The Cubs scored six runs in the 8th inning to blow the game wide open. Even though the D-backs responded with three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning they were still four runs behind and just couldn’t score enough to come back. All in all I will take two out of three against the Cubs any time.

Doug Davis pitched seven innings and gave up five hits and was charged with four runs. Davis struckout six batters while walking two. He did give up a first inning home run to Derrek Lee but then settled down until the Cubs scored three more runs in the fifth inning. Davis is now 3-5 on the year.

The big blow to the D-backs came in the 8th inning however when the Cubs pushed across six runs. Five of those runs were charged to Micah Owings as he left with the bases loaded. Reed Johnson then hit a grand slam off of Leo Rosales. It did appear that the ball got some help from a fan to get over the fence but the umpires met and still ruled it a home run.

Tony Clark had a two run home run while Chris Snyder added a three run home run off Bob Howry in the 8th inning. The other run for the D-backs came in the 5th inning when Conor Jackson had a rbi triple that scored Augie Ojeda. The Diamondbacks struckout 11 times and left 16 runners on base in the game.

The D-backs will now be off on Thursday before the start up a weekend series with the San Francisco Giants. Diamondbacks Baseball Blog loves your comments, so please leave us comments if you have something to say about the game recaps or articles!
